Welcome To
Department of Applied Medical Physics
About the Department
The Department of Applied Medical Physics, part of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, integrates advanced physics with medicine to drive innovation in healthcare. Our research spans medical imaging, radiation therapy, dosimetry, and computational modeling, contributing to the development of safer and more effective diagnostic and treatment technologies.
Specialized Sections
Our department has three sections-Diagnosis, Radiotherapy, and Nuclear Medicine-integrating research, clinical practice, and education in medical physics.
Diagnosis
The Diagnostic section focuses on the development and optimization of imaging techniques, including MRI, CT, and ultrasound, to improve accuracy and safety in medical diagnosis.
Radiotherapy
The Radiotherapy section conducts research on treatment planning, dose delivery, and verification systems to enhance the effectiveness and precision of cancer therapies.
Nuclear Medicine
The Nuclear Medicine section specializes in imaging and therapeutic applications of radionuclides, advancing molecular diagnostics and targeted treatments.
